The title of this post refers to the first lecture by Patricia Kaminski that I attended, during the Second International Flower Essence Conference, as described below.
For this talk I was one of the first to enter the classroom
I crossed the room and sat on the first row near a side window.
As soon as Patricia Kaminski’s talk began, I was transported to another time and space. She had hardly began talking and a non stop flow of tears were streaming, and just continued. The feeling was of remembering, maybe remembering experiences, reflection, study and initiation from another time…

Guidance during a time of deep inner processing
For two years, before sitting for this first lecture created by Patricia, I had been studying the FES California flower essences, and the Bach essences, using the first FES Repertory. This workbook had been the result of years of Patricia and Richard’s work and its study had been crucial to my own personal process of transformation, as I moved through major life challenges and searched for awareness and healing.
The Repertory, in itself, before I even had the essences, had helped me understand layers of emotions and soul feelings, that had been less conscious or clear before.
As I processed contradictory feelings, frustration and pain, while moving through a divorce, I was looking into my own unconscious behaviors, expectations and projections, I confronted my own shadow, and was determined to own my part in it all. Through intense and emotionally challenging situations, the descriptions of certain soul states and the application of flower essences helped me understand and process what was continuing to emerge. Going through these emotional challenges, while using the FES Repertory, helped me make sense of, recognize and name emotions, become aware of my shadow behaviors, forgive others, forgive myself.
I was living that internal experience of self awareness in full. And through it, the greater dimension of Flower Essence Therapy was beginning to be revealed to me.
Now, being introduced to a deep and multidimensional view of this work, here I was, seeing all of this that I had been experiencing, through a most beautiful and inspiring perspective of awakening the full Rainbow spectrum of my Soul!
Alchemy and the Language of Flower Essence Therapy
In a state in between dimensions of space and time, I sat there listening. There was more to the tears that continued to stream from my eyes: it was a kind of soul remembering. She showed images from the Ancient Alchemical tradition, making correlations between the work of Alchemy with the processes of transmutation prompted by Flower Essence Therapy. Knowledge I must have carried with me in a place deep within was being evoked, I felt in touch with something I knew and missed, or had unknowingly longed for. A deep chord within my Soul was struck.
I was watching that lecture, and I was retrieving something precious.
Dew, the very principle of a flower essence, was essential medicine for the Great Work of the Alchemists
The images projected on the screen depicted the Alchemists collecting the dew from plants and flowers, and processing it into sacred medicine, as part of the Great Work.
A sequence of images showed the primary stages of the processes of deep Alchemical transformation, the trials of the descent, meeting the dense “dross” of the dark aspects of self, all the steps to the inner transformation that eventually results in the symbolic gold. The being that emerges in wholeness from these profound trials, as culmination of the most meaningful and transformative journey.
When making his first flower essences, Dr Edward Bach collected dew found on flowers. Later, he placed fresh flowers on a bowl of water in the early morning sun.
Flowering takes the plant’s metamorphic plasticity to exquisite levels that reach the transcendent
With such singular beauty, color, harmonic and sacred geometrical patterns, exquisitely refined fragrance, how can we deny there is something transcendent as we contemplate a flowering plant in full bloom?
Flower essences are prepared in this peak moment, capturing the unique harmonic patterns of each plant. With precision and clarity, each Archetype’s harmonics are imprinted in water, offering their gift as catalyzers of alchemical soul processes.
Living Archetypes of Nature
Each plant holds a unique expression when blossoming, Patricia said, as she described how the Archetypal signature of each plant is transmitted through its flower.
In the culmination of her narrative, Patricia brought in the mythological presence of the Goddess Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, that builds the bridge between heaven and earth, and shares wisdom from the Gods with humans.
She poetically showed how Flower Essence Therapy, through its alchemical processes, realigns the human Soul in its full Spiritual luminosity, bringing to full clarity all its colors. She showed us the Rainbow, and Iris (the flower), she spoke of the Rainbow Bridge and of our multidimensional being evolving in its ongoing path to wholeness.
May Iris, the bearer of the rainbow, bring creativity and inspiration to all who seek to be healed by flowers. For as the Greeks wisely knew, Iris makes her bridge from heaven to earth with the colored blossoms of all flowers.
May our souls grow as large as the rainbow of Iris.
Patricia Kaminski - Flowers that Heal
So much resonance for these words Ruth, and celebration for this beautiful sacred partnership with the flowers. I am reminded of a stunning iris that appeared as if by magic one summer in the middle of a vast wide valley hay meadow belonging to the farm where I was living. I was delighted that the farmer had carefully mown around, leaving her on a little island of green where a tiny natural spring had sprung up. I will never forget the vibrancy of her energy and the perfection of her placement right at the heart of the field, majestic and visible to all passing by. Thank you for sharing your rich, soulful experiences, inspiring and encouraging us.
