Why I write these Soul and Plant stories
[Green Flowers, Green Hearts] Soul discoveries on the Flower Essence path
Memories that are still retrievable in us, of both our modality’s history as well as of our lived experience, are libraries that we may lose access to.
Each of these posts is meant to be a record that evokes the experience of wonder and revelation, as encounters and discoveries unfold on the flower essence path.
[Green Flowers, Green hearts] posts include moments of our history, discoveries that you may want to pursue, opportunities that are no longer available, all of this to inspire you to feel and live these in your imagination.
Alongside with these, [Plant Archetypes] posts bring in wisdom from specific living plants, rich in images, as plants are at the center of the work we do.
[Soulful Experiences] always bring in Plant Archetypes, interwoven with lived experiences, touching Soul Chords for your inspiration.
Honoring the roots of an emerging modality
Flower Essence Therapy, as a modality, has been emerging and is more vividly calling those who have loved it for some time, as well as many who have more recently felt drawn to it. There surely is a rising interest amongst English speaking people.
However, for those coming in, there are gaps in the knowledge that is available. With a few honorable exceptions, most of what is published at this time is either about Dr Bach and his essences, or is information, on paper or on the web, primarily describing essences and their application: this essence is for this, this essence is for that. Many are very good publications, but covering a somewhat limited scope.
From what I have seen, there is not much about comprehensive healing journeys, deeper inner processes, and certainly not enough about the study of essence plants or more about the environments and elemental forces these plants live in.
Honorable exceptions are multiple publications documented and published online by the Flower Essence Society - www.FlowerSociety.org - their work comprising multiple in depth case studies, essences used in social and humanitarian work, multiple videos of plant studies, and so much more. While this has been available for decades, many newcomers may not have explored the wealth of information that is there, that can nourish their souls and help deepen their studies.
History and roots of our modality
Flower Essences, in the form that we know and use today, have been created by our first pioneer, Dr Edward Bach, in the mid 1930’s. This is our factual history.
A number of decades after, between the end of the 1970’s and early 1980’s, new frontiers of research were opened, almost at the same time, bringing in flowers from different ecosystems and parts of the world. There is oral history on how this wave of pioneer research came into existence and was gifted to the world, starting in the 1980’s, but not much is documented or published.
A Podcast episode, called the Flower Essence Renaissance by the Flower Essence Podcast, in which I was a guest, showcases a lively conversation about these stories.
As we get closer to the end of our earthly journeys
My calling to tell stories from my personal experience that feature glimpses of this path of discovery, with stories of encounters and crucial teachings by different Flower Essence research pioneers, comes as a responsibility.
Those who have lived through crucial passages of our history are now elders, some have already transitioned, and those who are still functional in our mid seventies and eighties, are often committed to projects related to preparing their legacy.
Beyond a series of historical narratives, I also feel the calling to share from what we have learned from direct experience, working with so many clients for all of these decades. As elders in this field, we are living archives for those who are curious.
The writings on this Substack are spontaneous and intended to be a donation to our field. Please ask whenever you have questions and want to know more. I am here to serve you all.
Weaving connections and a sense of history
As I share stories that feature snapshots of the presence and work of those who have anchored valuable pioneer research and contributions to this path, it is my hope that we all connect to the fact that our modality has roots, that it has history and that we can cite and relate to mentors that have been, and are, an inspiration for us.
Contributing from lived experience
Beyond this Substack Blog, through my offerings of the Open Circles and of all the courses that I teach at Flower Essence Studies, I strive to provide opportunities for those who want to immerse themselves in this field and like to receive inspiration coming from lived experience using the essences in deep work with clients.
Lived practice is ultimately what will truly awaken and sharpen your abilities, as you engage in the process of applying in depth flower essence therapy. Having built three career paths mostly based on independent study applied in practice, I know that I have learned primarily from practicing, from living work in action.
This is, and will continue being, living and ever evolving work!
But I also know the value of being inspired by mentors, and the gift of resonating with the lived experience of elders. So this is why I do this.
Stories, memories, awakening wisdom of the Soul
It has always been known that human beings learn through stories: stories create lines of connection between elements, that help consolidate ever expanding understanding.
I also know that stories have the power of reawakening soul memory.
We always hear the scientific saying: “neurons that fire together, wire together”, this being one of the principles of memory consolidation on the physical level.
But there is more to memory than this, where stories and evocations awaken memories of the Soul, in dimensions beyond neural pathways.
So now you know more about what moves me into doing this.
May the flowers bless your path!
Thank you for the depth of your sharing… I am a flower essence practitioner, and was initiated by my the brown eyed susan inviting me to make an essence of her. I entered into a conversation asking why I should do that since I had many lifetimes as an herbalist. She answered “ you have never worked in this way before… making essences of flowers.” I was delighted. I had taken a brief 1 day workshop with a lady in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, I knew what to do. A whole new world opened up and today 20 years later, I have an extensive collection of not only flower essences, but Ascended Master Essences of beings who invited me to create their energy imprints as an essence. That’s another story… but I won’t dive into the telling of it here.
I must say how synchronistic it is to “come across” your Substack post quite magically. I am rarely on this site.
Blessings on your journey🙏😇
Thank you so much for sharing your stories and experiences. I look forward to all of your posts! I am so inspired when reading about where you have been on this journey. Sometimes it feels like I’m alone in this passion, but then I find mentors and flower fans like you! 🙏🏼🌻
